Chapter 2 Questions: “Queen of Militants”

  1. Can we truly be a follower of Christ without being a great lover of Mary? Why not?
  2. What did Pope Pius X say was the key to the renewal of the world? Name a couple of his reasons for this.
  3. Can one find the child without the Mother?
  4. If Christ is truly our leader, what ought we be like? Explain.
  5. Who presided over the training of Christ? What will She teach you? Will we still have temptations, difficulties, and moments of sadness?
  6. What book does St. Louis de Montfort say every militant member ought to have read? Why is it an easy, short, perfect, and secure way at arriving at union with Our Lord?
  7. What happened at Jesus’ first coming? What will happen at His second coming?

“Remember that you have only one soul; that you have only one death to die…then there will be many things about which you care nothing, that is, you will give up everything that has no eternal value. Only love and fidelity to God are of value for eternity. In the evening of life, you will be judged on love.”- St. John of the Cross and St. Teresa of Avila

  1. 1. Are we really following Christ if you do not imitate His filial piety towards her who was so dear to Him? He wishes that His Mother should also be our Mother. We do not just follow the Father and brother, but the Mother who is the heart of the family.

2.Pope Pius X pointed out that a renewal in the world of devotion to Mary was the best means of restoring all things in Christ. “Can anyone fail to see that there is no surer or more direct way than by Mary for uniting all mankind in Christ ….?” “Since Divine Providence has been pleased that we should have the God-man through Mary…it only remains for us to receive Christ from the hands of Mary.”

3.People forget that the Child is not found without Mary, His Mother. Our beautiful statues, holy cards all depict this.

4.If Christ is our Leader and Model, we ought to think as He does…blessedness of poverty, suffering and pleasure, carrying our cross, present and future life.
We ought to share His sentiments, . Do we fail to pardon those who have injured us, or humiliated us? What of jealousy and being ill-humored? If Christ is our Leader, we ought to act like Him

5.Mary presided over the training of Christ. She wishes to take care of our supernatural training; forming us to the likeness of her Son. She will teach us to think like, feel like,to will, to live like Christ. Actually to be another Christ.
The Pope has said, “There is no better teacher of better guide to make Jesus knows, no surer way to unite men to Jesus and to make them saints than Mary.

    6. The Poe said, “Everyone should read “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin” as it is an easy, short, perfect, and secure way of arriving at union with our Lord”. “It is a short road to find Jesus Christ,…a road we tread with joy …”

    7. The first time, Jesus came secretly and hiddenly; the second time He will come gloriously and resplendently. But both times, He will come perfectly, because He will come by Mary..

Penny, on page 30, two times the words, “divine Mary” are used -can phrases like that be misused and misread to be understood that Mary is part of the Divinity, if someone didn’t know better. .I suppose too,, that was more common to use phrases like that back in the early 18 C and even before that as holy men wrote of the Blessed Mother.

  2. 1. If we do not imitate Christ’s filial piety towards His Mother, then we can never be truly united with Christ. “Cursed be the sacrilegious hand of him who comes to snatch the Child from the arms of His Mother. He will not be able to do it. The Mother will flee, but will take her Son with her.”
    2. Pope Pius X believed that a renewal in the world of devotion to Mary was the best means of restoring all things in Christ because “there is no surer or more direct way than Mary for uniting all mankind in Christ.” He also stated, “Since Divine Providence has been pleased that we should have the God-man through Mary … it only remains for us to receive Christ from the hands of Mary.”
    3. “No one will find the Child without the Mother, because the Mother and the Son are inseparable, not only by their natures but still more by their functions.”
    4. If Christ is truly our leader, we should think and act like Him. We should carry our cross each day, we should pardon those who injure us, and we should display a calm countenance and tranquil soul when dealing with others, even those who contradict, reproach and/ or insult us.
    5. Mary knew Christ profoundly and presided over His training. She wishes to take care of our supernatural training, too, by forming us in the likeness of her first-born Son. We will still have our struggles, but she will console us, give us confidence and courage, and encourage us to succeed.
    6. Every militant should read True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin. It is the way Jesus Christ Himself trod in coming to us, and in which there is no obstacle in reaching Him.
    7. “When my sweet Jesus in His glory comes a second time on earth…He will choose no other way for His journey than the divine Mary, by whom He came the first time so surely and so perfectly. The first time He came secretly and hiddenly; the second time He will come gloriously and resplendently. But both times He will have come perfectly, because both times He will have come by Mary. Alas! Here is a mystery – which is not understood.”

The following reflection, which reveals the Holy Spirit of God as the “Uncreated Immaculate Conception” and His spouse, Mary, as the “Created Immaculate Conception,” was written by St. Maximilian Kolbe on February 17, 1941 – literally hours prior to his being arrested and detained by the Nazi’s and shipped off to a concentration camp, where he would …
