  1. Every apostle must be prepared to work for the cause and to renounce himself.

In order to work for the cause, you will have to give yourself without reserve. “An apostle put it this way, ‘it means to run to the ends of the earth to save a soul and then to die.'”

To work for the cause, you must renounce yourself. You must be willing to sacrifice your rest, your time, occasionally your family life, the prospects of an advantageous position, or your personal plans for the future.

To these inescapable sufferings, you must add voluntary ones. You will never accept with true dispositions those sufferings which are inevitable, if you have not imposed voluntary sufferings on yourself.

    3. To work for the cause you must be able to renounce yourself.
You must be ready to sacrifice not only your rest and your time, but occasionally you will have to give up even the consolations of family life, the prospects of an advantageous position, or your personal plans for the future.
